South African motorists can expect fuel prices to fall again on Wednesday, 2 October, when the adjustments kick in, the Automobile Association (AA) announced in a media statement on Thursday.
The price of 93-octane unleaded petrol is expected to be R1.05 per litre lower, while that of 95-octane petrol will be R1.13 per litre less.
Diesel prices are forecast to drop between R1.10 per litre and R1.12 per litre, according to the current unaudited data from the Central Energy Fund.
The reductions in fuel prices across the board will make it the fifth consecutive month of fuel price drops this year.
According to the AA, the cumulative effect of the expected decrease means a motorist filling a 50L tank with 93-octane unleaded petrol will save approximately R220.50 compared to May.
“While international product prices remained stable from the middle of the month, the drop in oil prices is contributing significantly to the projected reductions.
The stronger rand against the US dollar is playing a smaller role but is assisting in widening the over-recovery anticipated in October,” the AA notes.
