Free State police have launched a manhunt for a suspect who gunned down a male nurse in front of his home in Bloemspruit on Monday.
The incident occurred while the country was celebrating International Nurses Day.
Police spokesperson, Motansi Makhele, says the 54-year-old nurse had just arrived home and was shot moments after getting out of his vehicle.
He says when the victim ran into his house, a second shot was fired.
Police were summoned to the scene just before 8 pm where they found the body.
Makhele says the suspect fled on foot and nothing was stolen, therefore the motive is still unknown.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
