A Free State farmer who shot and killed three of his alleged attackers is currently in hospital being treated for stab wounds.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele says 37-year-old Pieter Andre Swart, from the farm Boskoppie in the Kroonstad district, was surprised by four suspects on Thursday morning when he opened the door of his house.
Brigadier Makhele says the suspects allegedly tried to overpower Swart, who was stabbed in the neck and the head in the process.
He says Swart, who lives alone, managed to get to his firearm and fired several shots, killing three of his attackers while a fourth managed to escape.
