Four men accused of stealing Transnet Railway tracks worth approximately R8 million briefly appeared in the Stilfontein Magistrates' Court in North West on Wednesday.
The 42-year-old Gerhardus Janse van Vuuren, the 35-year-old Christiaan Janse van Vuuren, the 40-year-old Elton Mostert and the 40-year-old Mario Malunga allegedly stole the tracks in Orkney in July 2018.
Police Spokesperson Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso says during the investigation police discovered railway tracks weighing 130 000 kg at the business premises of the first accused.
The four are charged with damaging of essential infrastructure and theft of ferrous metals which form part of essential structures.
Their next appearance will be on the 1st of July in Klerksdorp.
