Four people, including three adults and a teenage boy, drowned in Bethlehem and Welkom respectively this weekend.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, said that in the one incident three adults, two males aged 24 and 25, and a female aged 24, drowned at Liebenbergvlei dam near Bethlehem on Saturday.
He said they were part of a congregation from Botshabelo and drowned during a baptism ceremony.
Makhele said the bodies of the woman was recovered while the search was called off on Sunday due to bad weather conditions.
He said on Sunday police divers recovered the body of a 14-year-old from a dam in an open field in Welkom.
Brigadier Makhele said inquest dockets were registered for further investigation.
