South African Rugby Union boss Oregan Hoskins says he has learnt with sadness of the passing of former Eastern Province Rugby Union president George Davids.
Mr Davids died yesterday after a long illness. He was 70.
Born and bred in Port Elizabeth, Davids was president of the EP Rugby Union for more than a decade between 1994 and 2004.
Apart from playing for the Wallabies club earlier in his rugby career, he came through the ranks as administrator and was later also the club's chairman.
