Four passengers died on Tuesday morning along with Free State Stars striker and former Bafana footballer Richard Henyekane when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a truck near Bethlehem in the Free State.
Free State Stars spokesman Lebohang Maketa says Henyekane was travelling with another man and three women when their vehicle collided with the truck. They all died instantly.
ER24 paramedics says both vehicles burst into flames along the N5.
Henyekane’s twin brother, Joseph, also a soccer player, was buried in December.
Maketa said Joseph played Black Aces and Golden Arrows.
He said it was a very sad time for the family and a big loss to the soccer fraternity.
