Five sleeps until Oscar goes home

Oscar Pistorius is due to be released on correctional supervision on Tuesday.

The legal representative of Reeva Steenkamp's family, Tania Koen, told Algoa FM News that they were advised about this by the Department of Correctional Services on Thursday afternoon.

The Parole Board of the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre in Pretoria sat today to continue its consideration of Pistorius' application.

They advised Koen shortly before two o'clock of the development.

Pistorius was last year sentenced to five years' imprisonment for culpable homicide, for the death of Reeva.

In terms of the criminal procedures act, he was entitled to apply to be placed under correctional supervision under house arrest for the remainder of his sentence.

He applied successfully for this earlier this year and was initially due to leave prison in August.

However, the Minister of Correctional Services blocked his release from prison at the eleventh hour and referred the matter to the Parole Review Board.
