Five suspects have been shot dead by police in a foiled cash-in-transit robbery at Hennenman in the Free State.
Hawks spokesperson, Paul Ramoloko, says in addition to the deceased suspects, six more have been wounded and a total of eight arrests have been made.
Ramoloko says more suspects are currently being pursued by the Hawks following this morning's foiled heist.
He could not confirm how many are still on the run.
Ramoloko says the robbery of the Protea Coin Group van took place on Friday just before noon, and the shootout followed shortly thereafter.
No police members were injured. Vehicles and firearms used by the robbers were confiscated.
