A fire is raging across Muizenberg and surrounding areas in the Cape Peninsula.
So far, no injuries have been reported and four properties as well as an extensive area of vegetation have been damaged. An old age complex at Noordhoek has been evacuated.
Cape Town's Fire & Rescue Services spokesperson Theo Lane says fire trucks are unable to acces large areas of mountainous terrain - warning that it may take 2 days to bring the fires under control.
A local resident Linda Wilson says the area is clouded in smoke and the blaze looks like a firewall. She says a call has gone out for volunteers to help fight the fires.
