Emergency officials are monitoring the situation on Table Mountain, after a fire broke-out in Table Mountain National Park in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze which destroyed more than a square kilometre of vegetation.
However, authorities fear strong south-easterly winds could ignite another fire.
Municipal spokesperson Kylie Hattingh says they had to evacuate residents and holiday-makers from 25 homes, near the park.
She says more than 20 fire trucks responded to the fire.
