Figherfighters injured while battling Stellenbosch blaze

Four firefighters were injured while battling a fire at the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve near Stellenbosch on Tuesday.

ER24's Chitra Bodasing says the firefighters sustained soft tissue injuries when they tried to escape an overwhelming fire that's been raging in the area for the past three days.

The fires have already destroyed more than 600 hectares of vegetation in the Jonkershoek area.

The four firefighters are recovering in hospital in Stellenbosch.
