Police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for suspects who robbed a female police officer at her home and locked her inside the boot of her car.
Police Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Thakeng says that on Thursday last week, the sergeant, attached to SAPS in Lebowakgomo, arrived home from work when she noticed three suspects in her yard.
He says they were standing against a wall and immediately threatened her with their firearms to keep quiet.
Thakeng says one suspect disarmed her of her official firearm and forced her inside her house, where they managed to rob an undisclosed amount of cash from her purse while ransacking her home.
He says afterwards, they locked her in the boot of the car and fled the scene on foot with her keys.
Thakeng says when she failed to show up for work the next day, her colleagues were dispatched to her home at 7 pm.
Police found the gate locked, but the garage door opened with the lights on in the house.
The sergeant was eventually rescued when her fellow officers found her spare key to free her from the boot of her car.
