Free State police have opened culpable homicide dockets after two farm workers were killed when a goods train collided with a bakkie on Thursday morning.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, said the accident happened at around 06:38 at a railway crossing near Alpha farm, in the district of Thaba Nchu.
"The train driver alleges that he noticed a white bakkie on the level crossing and tried to warn the driver but the bakkie remained stationary until the two collided," he said.
Makhele said the two workers who were allegedly on patrol on the farm last night, were declared dead on the scene.
Their names have not yet been released.
