Police in Bloemfontein are investigating a case of murder, an inquest and a case of arson after a family of four was found dead in their home on Thursday.
Spokesperson, Colonel Thandi Mbambo, said Parkweg Police responded to information about a house that was burning in Victoria Road at about 5:00 a.m.
Mbambo said after the fire brigade had extinguished the blaze, the bodies of the 56-year-old father, 50-year-old mother and two children were found inside the house.
She said their 17-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son were both found with stab wounds and their throats slit.
Mbambo said the preliminary investigation suggests that there was no forced entry into the house.
She said the investigation however continues to determine what actually transpired, while post mortems will be conducted to determine the cause of death in the incident.
