Family concerned about Korkie's health

The family of kidnapped South African, Pierre Korkie says they are concerned about his health, as they had not received any new information since January.

Family spokesperson, Michael Venter says the family is carefully optimistic about the recent meeting the kidnappers had with tribal leaders.

On Tuesday, the Gift of the Givers Foundation said the Al-Qaeda militants holding Korkie in Yemen, still wanted ransom money for his return.

Foundation head, Imtiaz Sooliman said there was no mention if the initial ransom demand of R32.5 million was negotiable.

Korkie and his wife, Yolande were kidnapped by militants in May last year.

Yolande was released on January 10 and returned to South Africa on January 13.

On February 25, tribal leaders found out that Korkie was still alive, but in poor health.
