The storm surrounding Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth took a new turn on Monday when Total Sports made the decision to remove all his posters from their stores.
The Sportswear store made the announcement on their official Twitter account stating that the controversy around Etzebeth had been felt in their stores.
The store has faced a backlash online with supporters accusing Totalsports of finding Etzebeth guilty without having a fair trial.
The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has taken legal action against the player after receiving complaints that he "physically and racially" abused a complainant in Langebaan during an altercation.
Etzebeth has strongly refuted the claims and have launched legal action of his own.
"It is completely untrue and unfounded to claim that I physically or racially abused anyone in Langebaan as has been reported on social media. Multiple witnesses can corroborate that," Etzebeth was quoted as saying.
Earlier this month Etzebeth also raised his concerns over the impartiality of the acting legal head of the SAHRC Buang Jones who reportedly told Langebaan residents during a meeting that the Bok player "always got away with it".
The complainants who have since become known as the 'Langebaan four' are now looking for compensation of more than R1m and want Etzebeth to apologise.
