Parliament's ethics committee has found former communications minister, Dina Pule, guilty of of causing improper benefits to be afforded to her lover, Phosane Mngqibisa.
Wednesday's ruling came weeks after Pule was sacked by president Jacob Zuma and followed persistent reports about Mngqibisa's influence over her Department.
The Committee recommended that she be fined a month's salary and be reprimanded by the Speaker for misleading parliament.
DA MP, Dianne Kohler-Barnard, who was heavily criticized for calling for the probe, says the multi-party ethics committee had cleared her of any wrongdoing for submitting a leaked report on Pule's overseas visits and her role in securing a contract for Mngqibisa's company for last year's ICT indaba in Durban.
"This has been a long process and my deepest thanks go to my colleagues from all parties to perform this most difficult task of investigating our piers on their ethical behaviour or lack thereof. This full report will no be referred to the NPA and SAPS to ,for example investigate charges of perjury on the part of various officials " she said.
