Eskom warns of more rolling blackouts

Eskom has warned that there's a strong possibility of rolling black outs across the country this weekend.

The power utility's Andrew Etzinger says they haven't been able to fill their open-cycle gas turbines with the required amount of diesel this week.

He says despite Eskom's hydro-electric plants being cranked up to full operational capacity, the pressure on the national grid is now similar to last week.

"We are very concerned about Friday and the rest of the weekend. The message is once again, please use electricity very sparingly. If we can save electricity now, it really means we saving a little bit of diesel and a little bit of our dam level. We doing our best to stretch out our power station capacity until the end of the week but we definitely need business and public support." says Etzinger.
