Power uitlity Eskom says the country's electricity supply is out of immediate danger but warns that South Africans have to be vigilant as the system remains tight.
On Thursday night, various areas across the country experienced load shedding after eskom announced a system emergency.
Eskom's Andrew Etzinger says they had to implement load shedding for two hours from 5pm due to the high electricity demand associated with the cold weather and issues at their generating plant.
Etzinger says they are less likely to experience load shedding on Friday night and over the weekend.
