Eskom has announced that it will start implementing stage two load shedding from 1 pm to 10 pm on Sunday.
This is the first time the power utility will be load shedding since the 9th of December last year, and comes just days after president Cyril Ramaphosa announced plans in his State-of-the-Nation address to restructure Eskom in a bid to save the struggling power utility.
Eskom says in a statement that Sunday's load shedding is as a result of a shortage of capacity and a need to replenish and preserve emergency water and diesel resources.
Stage two calls for 2000MW to be rotationally shed nationally at a given period.
'We continue to appeal to residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly during this period. Please switch off geysers as well as all non-essential lighting and electrical appliances to assist in reducing demand," Eskom said.
For Eskom customers, these schedules were available on the Eskom website (http://loadshedding.eskom.co.za).
