Eskom has announced that it will implement Stage 4 loadshedding again on Thursday.

The embattled power utility says on its official Twitter handle that it had to move to Stage 4 as the power system is still severely constrained.

Added to which, the cold weather being experienced over large parts of the country is placing additional demand on the grid.

Eskom had been forced to introduced stage 2 loadshedding on Tuesday because of a shortage in generation capacity.

It stated, at the time that ten generation units had suffered breakdowns at seven power plants in the previous 48 hours.

Eskom says loadshedding will continue throughout the weekend as its teams work around the clock to return as many of these generation units to service as possible.
