An Eastern Cape man in his eighties has been killed but his wife left unharmed after four men broke into their Fort Beaufort home on Sunday night.
Police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said that local SAPS were “hot on the heels” of the suspects who robbed and attacked an elderly couple at Kwepileni, Fort Beaufort.
“It is alleged that four males gained entry into the home of an elderly couple and demanded cash. The robbers attacked the 80-year-old man and the female victim was unharmed but highly traumatized.”
He said the elderly man died at the scene.
“The suspects fled with cell phones, jewellery, a TV set and an undisclosed amount of money,” said Tonjeni.
