Police in the Free State have launched a manhunt for six suspects who robbed an elderly couple on their farm in the Frankfort district.
Spokesperson Captain Loraine Earle says shortly after 3 am on Friday, the unknown men entered the couple's bedroom where they overpowered the 78-year-old woman, her 74-year-old husband as well as a 48-year-old employee who stays in their home.
She says the victims were tied up before their house was ransacked looking for money and firearms.
The suspects fled with household items, two handguns, one shotgun and the farmer's Ford Ranger bakke which was later found abandoned in a field.
Police are investigating a charge of house robbery, theft of vehicle and theft of firearms.
