At least eight people have been killed in a fire in Durban that ravaged through an orphanage in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Robert McKenzie, spokesman for the KwaZulu-Natal provincial Emergency Medical Services said that many of those killed were children.
McKenzie said EMRS received the call to attend the fire scene shortly before 3am on Thursday morning.
The cause of the fire was not known and details are sketchy. It was also not know how many other children were injured.
Those killed at the orphanage, located in Parlock, were aged between eight and 21 years old.
