Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga, has condemned the violence in Grabouw where a school protest has turned into running battles between two communities and the police.
The violence was sparked by the burning of Umyezo wama Apile School by angry protesters who were demanding additional facilities and an end to overcrowding.
Motshekga said that her Department along with Western Cape Education Department are working to resolve the situation and a site for a new school has already been identifed.
Minister Mothskega also rejected claims that the violence in Grabouw was politically motivated.
