An Eastern Cape police has died after the police vehicle he was in hit a horse and capsized near Mount Frere.

Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Brigadier Marinda Mills, said that the deceased was 57-year-old Captain Decca Mhlelembamba.

“Captain Decca Mhlelembana, attached to Mount Frere SAPS, was on duty  together with a colleague. The  two members were travelling in a police vehicle with two informants and on their way to Mvuzi Admin Area, following up on information on a new case reported to the police,” she said.

“Their vehicle collided with a horse and capsized. Captain Mhlelembana sustained head injuries and was certified dead at the scene,” Mills said.
