EC ANC not happy with Generations' currrent story line

The ANC in the Eastern Cape say the producers of the soapie Generations should use their creative skills to raise awareness about child and women abuse.

ANC provincial spokesperson, Mlibo Qoboshiyane, says the the current Generations story line, showing women used in sexual trade, drug smuggling and human trafficking, could inadvertently promote women abuse and trafficking.

He says while he accepts that the soapie may just be a dramatisation of societal events, he says their must be more responsibility on the part of the public broadcaster to portray more positive images about the country.

"The South African public have to see more positive things respecting the rules and laws that are there so that at home, while children and citizens in the country are watching they can see a positive portrail of society not to be seen as a society that is devastating and I think we are noticing what is happening for instance in the soapy for necessarily helping to prepare the damage that is already done" Qoboshiyane said.
