A 20-year-old man who allegedly raped a 7-year-old child in the bathrooms at the Dros Restaurant in Silverton, Pretoria has made his first court appearance. Activists say they plan to visit the restaurant on Thursday where it is "business as usual".
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and has already appeared in court, where he remains in custody.
The Dros issued a statement confirming the incident and said they were in contact with the management and staff of the outlet.
Many people on Twitter reacted to the statement saying that it lacked empathy.

She says the restaurant is still open with no new measurements in place.
Senne says restaurants must have trained staff and proper surveillance.
Senne says when a child goes into the play area it does not absolve parents from their responsibility but according to her, they fall under the care of the restaurant for that time.
