The Automobile Association says the over-arching reason for road deaths was poor driver attitude and disregard for the law.
The AA said in a statement that many causes, such as drunk driving, speeding, driving without seatbelts and risky overtaking, have been forwarded as reasons for the fatalities.
However, the Association says all of these essentially point to poor driver attitudes.
The AA says if drivers don't take responsibility for their actions, and carry on making decisions that they know to be wrong for their own sake, these figures will simply not improve.
Yesterday, Transport Minister, Dipuo Peters, announced a 14% year on year increase in the number of roads deaths during the Festive period.
Road fatalities in the Eastern Cape increased by 22% year on year.
