Thirty-three children had to be treated and transported to hospital in Johannesburg after inhaling fumes from pool acid.
ER24 said it joined other emergency services at the Zoo Lake Swimming Pool on Saturday.
“Following the incident patients were moved to a road close by and the parking area, however were moved to an undercover area when it started raining,” a statement said.
“Upon assessment of the patients, it was found that most had difficulty in breathing however are in minor condition at that stage. Children attended to by ER24 are believed to be between the ages of six and about 16.”
The exact cause of the incident is unknown and subject to investigation.
