Economist, Azar Jammine says motorists shouldn't be too excited about the petrol price decrease in June, as it could go up again in the coming months if the rand remains weak.
The Energy Department announced on Friday that the petrol price will drop by a whopping 55-cents-a-litre on Wednesday.
It's the first fuel price cut in 2012 - bringing the cost of petrol down to 11-rand-34-cents per litre. A litre of diesel will cost 25-cents less.
Jammine says for now, motorists are likely to see a slight decrease in July.
