Free State police are searching for the suspects who shot a doctor during a robbery at the doctor’s quarters at a hospital in Phuthaditjhaba during which another doctor was also injured.
Police spokesperson, Warrant-Officer Mmako Mophiring, said the incident happened on Tuesday at around 9.30 pm.
He said one of the doctors was in his room listening to music when he heard his roommate calling him several times.
Mophiring said it was alleged that two males broke into their apartment, one of whom was in possession of a firearm and the other armed with a crowbar.
He said the “armed suspect” shot the doctor in the abdomen without uttering a word, while the other suspect hit the other doctor over the head with the crowbar.
A case of house robbery and attempted murder is being investigated.
