Mpumalanga police said a doctor at a state hospital was shot dead on Wednesday morning outside a gym in Nelspruit on Wednesday morning.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, said the incident happened at around 05h30 when the female doctor was found shot outside her car.
He said paramedics declared her dead at the scene.
Brigadier Mdhluli said the motive for the murder of the medical practitioner is not yet known, while the search for two assailants continues.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has strongly condemned the “senseless killing”, and reassured the public that the investigation team will leave no stone unturned to get those responsible behind bars.
