DNA tests have confirmed that a burnt body found near Rustenburg in August was that of a missing 7-year-old learner.
North West police spokesperson, Colonel Adele Myburgh, said that Kgothatso Molefe was reported missing on July 24 in Tlhabane, where she was a grade two learner at Rampa Primary School.
She said Kgothatso was reported missing after she did not return home from school.
Subsequently, an unidentified, burnt body was discovered on Friday, August 2 in Lefaragatlha by a passer-by.
A murder case has now been opened for investigation, Myburgh added.
The child will be buried on Sunday.
