The Department of Health says an investigation into the cause of death of a patient at Limpopo's Letaba Hospital needs to be done.
The Department was commenting on statements by the Democratic Alliance at the weekend which alleged that the patient had died because of load-shedding.
DA Limpopo spokesperson on Health, Langa Bodlani, claimed that a diesel generator had failed to kick-in, leading to the death of a person on life support.
National Health Department spokesperson, Joe Maila, says Minister Aaron Motsoaledi went to the hospital to investigate the allegations.
"One of the things that I can tell you now is that it is not necessarily an issue of load-shedding, however we can confirm that their diesel was running very low-to a point that it ran dry. That does not necessarily mean the death might have been connected to this. We need to get a proper investigation into the cause of death" he said.
