Western Cape police management have praised the efforts of two of their detectives who yet again secured major success with the conviction and subsequent sentencing of a killer.
Jason Rohde was sentenced to an effective 20 years in prison in the Cape Town High Court on Wednesday after killing his wife Susan at the Spier Estate in July 2016.
Susan's death was initially labelled as a suicide, which was staged by her husband Jason. She was laid to rest before her death became a murder investigation.
Police Spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana says their extensive investigation saw detectives employing the services of a police forensic expert to examine the bathroom door to prove that a murder had been committed as opposed to suicide as previously claimed.
Sergeant Marlon Appolis and Sergeant Stephen Adams under the command of Colonel Deon Beneke have secured several convictions and hefty sentences in high profile murder cases that made national headlines.
The team from Stellenbosch also investigated Henri van Breda and the murder and rape of Hannah Cornelius.
