The SA National Defence Force has rejected reports of soldiers being killed or seriously injured in Democratic Republic of Congo.
SANDF spokesperson, Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga, says one soldier suffered minor injuries when a mortar landed close to the base where SANDF and Tanzanian soldiers are billeted as part of a UN mission.
He say some Tanzanian soldiers were also injured by shrapnel from a mortar fired during clashes between M-23 rebels and DRC soldiers last Saturday.
However, General Mabanga says SANDF and Tanzanian troops were involved in an operation with the DRC army against M-23 rebel positions on Wednesday, providing fire and air support as well as artillery bombardment.
