Former Bok coach turned politician Peter de Villiers will have to give oral evidence this week for a hearing set out by the Good Party.

The GOOD party suspended De Villiers as its councillor in the Drakenstein Municipality and from all party activities last month after receiving a complaint of sexual misconduct from a party member.

Secretary-General Brett Herron says GOOD's Constitution deals comprehensively and unequivocally with gender rights and sexual misconduct and said the party is proud of its record of advocacy for the equal rights of women and girls and against the plague of gender-based violence in South Africa.

He says the party has concluded an internal investigation, and resolved to institute a formal hearing by its Constitution.

The hearing is set down for two days this week.

Herron says GOOD has appointed an independent Disciplinary Hearing Chairperson, Adv Lionel Esau, and an independent initiator, to fulfil the prosecutorial function, Adv Peter Cyster.
