CAPE TOWN, July (ANA) - A proposed motion of no confidence in Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille was officially withdrawn during a meeting of the council on Thursday.
Deputy Mayor Ian Neilson informed council that the motion would no longer proceed and the matter would be sent to the Speaker's multi-party committee for discussion.
The motion was scheduled to be brought on Thursday after De Lille survived a previous motion in February by just one vote.
She later took the Democratic Alliance to court when it fired her for telling a radio talk show host that she would leave the party if she clears her name. De Lille won her court bid and will likely remain in her post until a disciplinary hearing against allegations of misconduct against her is completed.
