JOHANNESBURG, March (ANA) - Australia cricket coach Darren Lehmann on Thursday announced he will resign from his position after the fourth Test against South Africa.
The final Test of the series starts at the Wanderers, in Johannesburg, on Friday.
Former captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner had both been banned for 12 months from all international cricket for their role in the ball-tampering incident during the third Test in Cape Town, while Cameron Bancroft received a slightly-lesser nine-month suspension.
"Telling the Australian players the news was probably the toughest thing I've had to do,” said Lehmann.
Lehmann said after seeing Steve Smith crying in his press conference earlier on Thursday he did not feel he could continue as Australian coach. - African News Agency (ANA),
