New daily Covid-19 infections have eased slightly to 11 000.
This comes after the Department of Health reported an increase of more than 14 000 new cases on consecutive days.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize released the latest Covid-19 statistics on Saturday night.
He said the total number of cases now stood at 994-thousand 911.
The country has also recorded 245 new Covid-19 related fatalities, of which 118 were in the Eastern Cape, pushing the death toll to 26-thousand 521.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation says the coronavirus crisis will not be the last pandemic, and attempts to improve human health are "doomed" without tackling climate change and animal welfare.
Tedros Ghebreyesus also condemned the "dangerously short-sighted" cycle of throwing cash at outbreaks but doing nothing to prepare for the next one, in a video message marking the first International Day of Epidemic Preparedness on Sunday.
The WHO director-general said it was time to learn the lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic as for too long, the world has operated on a cycle of panic and neglect.
