The DA Youth and several other youth representatives walked out of a sitting of the Youth Parliament on Thursday and said they will not sign the 2012 Declaration.
DA Youth leader Makashule Gana says they walked out because of the gross politicisation of the sitting which saw non-ANC aligned youth prevented from airing their views.
Gana says the declaration was meant to be a joint statement from all representative bodies within the Youth Parliament - expressing the outcomes of the day's deliberations.
Gana says the "politicisation" began when the Deputy Speaker spoke against the youth wage subsidy in her opening speech, despite it being a government policy.
DA Youth representatives were then denied the opportunity to reply.
