The NorthGauteng High Court has ordered President Jacob Zuma to provide reasons for his decision to reshuffle the cabinet.
The courtrule in favour of an application by the Democratic Alliance which wanted thePresident to explain why he fired Pravin Gordhan and Mcebisi Jonas the Ministerand Deputy Ministers of Finance.
WelcomingThursday’s court ruling, DA Federal Executive Chairperson, James Selfe welcomedthe ruling.
He saidthis was not only a victory for the DA but all South Africans who deserve toknow on what basis the President made this decision.
“Now thatthe High Court has confirmed that President Zuma must supply his record ofdecision within five days of today’s ruling, our earlier application to reviewthe rationality of his decision can proceed,” Selfe said.
“The record of decision should also contain the now infamous ‘intelligence report’ whichSouth Africa and the court can fully interrogate,” he said.
