DA slams ANC for "defending" Zuma

The DA said Tuesday's media briefing by the ANC has reaffirmed that the ruling party is in complete denial over the reckless and negligent actions of it's President, Jacob Zuma.

The ruling party said that it was satisfied with the explanations and reports given by its National Officials, including President Jacob Zuma, on the engagements that were had with stakeholders, including alliance partners and business, in the aftermath of the fallout following the sacking of Nhlanhla Nene as Finance Minister.

But, DA national spokesperson, Refiloe Nt'sekhe, said the ANC has chosen to defend its beleaguered President, rather than standing up for South Africa's interests.
She said the ANC has put the ANC first, and South Africa second and continues to neglect the needs of South Africa as it hurries to defend one man.

"Public confidence in Jacob Zuma is at an all-time low, with loud calls for Zuma to fall, yet the ANC has refused to listen to the public outcry, and has refused to acknowledge its seriousness. The ANC does not listen to South Africans and it is an entirely out of touch party that has abandoned our common good," Nt'sekhe said.

"Instead today, the ANC chose to praise President Zuma for his flip-flop about-turn on Finance Ministers, which is evidence of its complete denial of the enormity of the economic crisis into which President Zuma has plunged our nation."

"For years to come our economy will remain hamstrung by the recklessness of President Jacob Zuma in removing Nhlanhla Nene and installing David Van Rooyen which the ANC today confirmed today was seen as risking a massive impact on the economy before the announcement was even made," she added.

"How the ANC can continue to defend Jacob Zuma, whilst admitting he caused a "bloodbath" in our economy, shows the level of denial in the governing party.  South Africa can no longer afford the recklessness of Jacob Zuma, and the denial of the ANC," Nt'sekhe said.
