The Board of US-based company Net 1 UEPS said its subsidiary, Cash Paymaster Services, is committed to paying social grants on the 1st of April
In a statement Sunday, the Nasdaq-listed company said that Net1 Board had confirmed that the preparatory process for the payment of grants is on track for the April cycle.
“The board confirmed that CPS had been in contact with SASSA and could confirm that the preparatory process for the payment of grants is on track for the April payment cycle ensuring 10.m million people will be paid as usual on the 1st April and for the next 12 months as per their constitutional obligation.
On Friday the Constitutional Court extended the contract under the same conditions between CPS and Sassa but added a raft of supervisory conditions.
The court also ordered Social Development Minister, Bathabile Dlamini, to show cause why she should not be held personally liable for the legal costs of the application brought by the Black Sash.
President Jacob Zuma has also “decided to lead and chair” the inter-ministerial committee on comprehensive social security and apologised for the “undue anxiety that resulted from the uncertainty over grant distribution”, the presidency said on Saturday.
