COVID-19 cases in SA reach 30 000

The number of coronavirus cases in South Africa has surpassed the 30 000-mark, while 32 more deaths have been reported, bringing the toll to 643.

Health Minister, Zweli Mkhize announced on Saturday that the confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country had increased by 1 727 in the previous 24-hour period to 30 967.

He said 52 percent of patients (16 116) had recovered from the disease.

The Eastern Cape has 3 759 confirmed cases, and 82 deaths.

A total of 701,883 tests had been processed to date, of which 21,708 had been conducted since the last report on Friday.
