The Congress of South African Trade Unions has hit out at Julius Malema's call to make mines in South Africa "ungovernable".
Malema made the controversial statement during a visit to Marikana in North West, after the shooting incident in the area last month.
Cosatu President, Sdumo Dlamini says such statements are "populist" and irresponsible.
Meanwhile, the Acting President of the ANC Youth League, Ronald Lamola, has reiterated the movement's call for the nationalization of key assets in South Africa.
Speaking at the South African Student Congress' 21st anniversary at the University of KwaZulu Natal in Durban, he said the league stood by its demand that government take over the mining of minerals like gold, platinum and manganese, as well as fuel giants such as Sasol.
He said leaders should not be reluctant to change the constitution if need be.
