Western Cape Transport Minister, Robin Carlisle, has accused Cosatu and Metrorail in the province of selling out commuters.
This after double digit increases were announced for rail commuters.
Cosatu in the Wesern Cape said on Friday that Metrorail had agreed to increase the price of monthly tickets by 13% and not the proposed 27% - from Sunday.
Carlisle says he had consistently pushed for increases to be limited to single digits.
He says the latest increase comes on top of the 33% fare increase in 2010 and that since then, Metrorail's services have deteriorated significantly.
