Western Cape police have identified four of the six bodies found on a farm near Kraaifontein in Cape Town.
Western Cape police commissioner, Arno Lamoer, said the men were from Wallaceden.
He said police were shocked at the discovery of the bodies in Joostenberg Vlakte on Wednesday morning.
The bodies were discovered by passers-by, lying face down with their hands tied behind their backs.
Police said earlier that they suspected that the six men, aged between 18 and 30, had been stoned to death.
Lamoer declined to be drawn on speculation that they may have been the victims of a mob attack.
